Health, Safety and Wellbeing: Defining and Uniting Us

At the heart of Northern Transportables operations lies an unwavering commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce, visitors and all individuals engaging with our business.

We firmly believe that every person has the right to a safe and secure environment and have integrated this belief into the very fabric of our company’s ethos. We are proactive in our compliance with the relevant legislative provisions and maintain external international accreditation (ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System). We view occupational health, safety and wellbeing as a both a legal and moral obligation.

Driven by our improvement philosophy, we place emphasis on preventing, minimising and eliminating work-related injury and illness. We engage our workforce in training, provide clear policy and procedural information, safe equipment and work systems and involve employees in hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures. We strive to cultivate an ethos in which health, safety and wellbeing are embraced as shared values that define and unite us.

Northern Transportables recognises that a mentally healthy workplace benefits all employees, their families, the organisation and the broader community. We are taking action to create a mentally healthy workplace that promotes wellbeing, minimises workplace stress and is an environment where staff feel safe to talk about mental health, are supported and have equal opportunities. Our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategic Plan will provide information and opportunities for staff involvement in initiatives and activities relating to nutrition, exercise, work-life balance and mental health.

Northern Transportables is also accredited under both the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) and the Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (WAHVAS).  The NHVAS is a formal process for recognising operators who have robust safety and other management systems in place. Our accreditation through the NHVAS includes the Mass Management, Fatigue Management and Maintenance Management Modules. Our NHVAS accreditation also allows Northern Transportables to repair and maintain our accredited heavy vehicles and trailers in-house, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
